Change to Waste Bottles
We made some recent changes to how we handle chemical waste at the CNF. Previously for all chemical waste bottles, when you filled a waste bottle, you would create a new waste bottle from labels found at the hood. Now, certain chemical waste bottles are reused, so no new labels (or bottles) are needed. Extra waste bottles for these chemicals are located under the hood. So now, instead of finding new waste labels for these chemicals, you will find plastic coated cards that remind you to look under the hood for these empty containers. Please note though, that not all chemical waste containers are like this. For many of them, you will still need to create a new waste bottle once you have filled one.
Contact Dan Woodie with any questions you may have regarding this.

Ultra and Supra update
Both the Ultra and Supra are back online.
The Ultra is imaging fine.
The images on the Supra are a little soft and there is a problem imaging at voltages above 20kV (it will not image). A service is going to be in for another issue and will take a look at it.

JEOL Scheduling Restrictions
Starting next Tuesday November 3 2009 at noon, users can only have 12hrs of advanced reservations. If you already have 12hrs or more booked this week, you will not be able to schedule time until you've up some of the time this week. This limitation will most likely be alleviated when the new JEOL 6300 is available for general use in February 2010.
Note: This restriction is in addition to 3hr limitations from 8am-8pm Monday through Friday.
