CNF User Monthly Update for July
Dear CNF Users: In an effort to keep everyone informed of upcoming events and reminded of basic lab use, we have started a "Monthly Reminder" message that is emailed out to our users and posted as a notice on the CNF Lab User website.

JULY INFO:
[1] The CNF Staff will be attending a luncheon this Friday, July 1st, to bid a fond farewell to our director, Dan Ralph, and welcome our new director, Chris Ober. More news will be published about the directorship at a later date. In the meantime, Buddy Rules apply from 12 noon on, on Friday.
[2] Monday, the 4th of July, is a National Holiday and staff will be off. Buddy Rules apply all day Monday.
[3] Reminder #1 -- Every Wednesday, we have a Tech Discussion in our conference room, 250 Duffield Hall, starting at 1:30 p.m. Anyone with a research question or quandary is welcome to join us! There is no need to sign up for the Tech Discussion -- simply join us between 1:30-3:30 p.m. prepared to discuss your problem.
[4] Reminder #2 -- The summer months can be hectic in the CNF cleanroom and labs. It is therefore even more important to strictly follow our protocols and procedures. It is always best to take your time and err on the side of caution. One chemical spill can ruin everyone's day! Stay aware, awake, and safe. Thank you.
[5] Finally, Reminder #3 -- Please plan to present a poster at the CNF Annual Meeting (Thursday, September 15th). Poster presenters register for free! We currently have twenty corporate sponsors and a healthy "pot of gold" for student awards. Don't miss out on free food all day, a chance to share your research with potential employers, AND the possibility of winning cash money for your poster! http://www.cnf.cornell.edu/cnf_2016am.html

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the JULY INFO, please contact Phil Infante.

Photolithography central house vacuum is intermittently LOW
The resist spinners are being affected by the intermittent drop in vacuum. Typically the spinner need at least 25"Hg at the tool, to have a stable process but recently it has been fluctuating between 22 and 27"Hg. A vacuum gauge has been installed on the spinner hood at eye level to observe the fluctuation. We are working with building's facilities management to fix the problem. I will also replace the internal sensor and spindle seals to see if local vacuum gets better. Parts have been ordered. Sorry for the inconvenience and we will keep you updated with any new developments.
