2013 CNF Technical Reports Due June 12th
CNF USERS: It is time once again to plan for the Cornell NanoScale Facility Research Accomplishments. As you may recall, one of the requirements of using the CNF for your research is the submission of an annual technical report. It is extremely important that we receive complete and interesting reports from all users and all projects.

Reminder: Annual Steam Shut Down & CNF Lab Closure
Cornell will be doing its annual steam shutdown starting at 5am on Tuesday, May 28th. All CNF labs will be closed at this time and will open again on Friday, May 31st at 9am. Please plan ahead as there will be no access to the labs during this time.

Also, Monday the 27th is a staff holiday. Buddy system rules will be in effect all day.

Limiting Use of CNF Lab During CNF TCN, June 4-7
Dear CNF Users:

The CNF clean room demonstrations are an integral part of the CNF short course, Technology & Characterization at the Nanoscale. Therefore the 40 CNF TCN participants will be in the clean room the afternoons of June 4-7, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 1:30-5pm each day.

You may want to consider avoiding the clean room on those afternoons.

On the up-side, come to Baum Atrium at 12:45pm each of those days and see if there is any lunch left for non-participants!

Electron Beam Lithography General Training
Every Tuesday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm in 254 Duffield Hall there will be a general introduction to electron beam lithography, which covers both the JEOL 6300 and the JEOL 9500.

Before attending this training, please supply the information about your project which is requested under Equipment Training on the JEOL 6300 web page, http://www.cnfusers.cornell.edu/cnf5_tool.taf?_function=detail&eq_id=171 .

This session covers tool specifications, radiation safety, pattern conversion software, and writing job files.

In addition to this introduction, you must complete a hands-on training session in the cleanroom on either the JEOL 6300 or the JEOL 9500 before you can use either of those tools. Sign up online using the Education and Training link on the CNF users web site.

Fedora Linux 15 and Fedora Linux 17
Apple iOS
Android Gingerbread
Android Jellybean

CNF IT has not qualified and does not currently recommend Windows 8 .

PlasmaTherm service visits
PlasmaTherm will have a service engineer on site to perform service on the etch tools. Here is the schedule when the tools will be unavailable:

Week of May 6: PlasmaTherm VLN DRIE - ongoing issue
Week of May 13: PT770
Week of May 20: PT770 & PT720/740

Scheduled updated 4/30 due to delays.
