Java 9 May Break CORAL
We have received reports that when Java 9 is installed, CORAL will not start. Also, we have not yet tested CORAL with Java 9. To run CORAL, please continue to use JAVA 8 -- Java 8 is still updated and supported by Oracle.

New CNF NoticeBoard Display
CNF Computing has replaced the old flash-based Noticeboard application with a new application. The new application is written in modern HTML5/Javascript .

In addition to using modern standards, the new board positions CNF for the necessary programming to migrate the CNFUsers website to a new website design.

If you discover any bugs in the new noticeboard application, please contact CNF Computing.

JEOL 9500 - Excellent field stitch test results
CNF Staff tested field stitching at points distributed around a wafer on the JEOL 9500. Results were stitching errors of 5 nm or less everywhere. Users doing exposures on flat conducting or semiconducting substrates should get similar results. Nonconducting substrates need gold or espacer to minimize errors caused by charging. Please see the staff for assistance with this if you need it.

Nanotech Race on Oct 7th!
To answer the question, "How fast can your mascot run 100 billion nanometers?" for National Nanotechnology Day, Cornell University's Touchdown the Bear and a nano-researcher from the Cornell NanoScale Facility, Isaiah Gray, ran the football field (107 yards, actually) during the CU-Harvard Football game on October 7th, 2017. It was close. The bear ran 100 billion nanometers in 25.19 seconds.

January 2018 CNF TCN
January 9, 2018 through January 12, 2018
This intensive 3.5 day short course offered by the Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility, combines lectures and laboratory demonstrations designed to impart a broad understanding of the science and technology required to undertake research in nanoscience. TCN is an ideal way for faculty, graduate students, post docs and staff members to rapidly come up to speed in many of the technologies that users of the CNF need to employ. Members of the high tech business community will also find it an effective way to learn best practices for success in a nanofab environment. Attendance is open to the general scientific community, but class size is limited.
