CNF RESEARCH ACCOMPLISHMENTS INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Written Report (PDF) – 1000 Word Maximum:
    • Provide a concise description of the past year's technical achievements (up to 1000 words), including the following sections:
      • Abstract:
      • Summary of Research:
      • References:
      • List only the major CNF tools used (e.g., no need to list hot plates).
    • The word count includes the abstract, summary, references, and captions but does not include the summary report information at the start of the document.
  2. Graphics (JPEG/PNG/TIF) – 4 Maximum:
    • Graphics include device photos, graphs, formulas, and tables.
    • Please send only four individual images.
    • Do not exceed the 4-graphic maximum.
  3. Email Submission:
    • Use your CNF project number as the first part of the subject line: YourProj# YourLastName's Technical Report (e.g., 12345LastName.pdf). Project number can be located in NEMO
  4. Summary Report Information (Required at the Start):
    • Do not abbreviate terms (e.g., spell out "Electrical and Computer Engineering", "National Science Foundation").
    • List email addresses separately.
  5. Text Formatting Guidelines:
    • Keep it simple: no columns, bold, or hypertext.
    • Do not refer to specific figure placements (e.g., "In Figure 3 below..."). Instead, just say "In Figure 3."
    • Captions should be at the end of the PDF document, not included within the images themselves.
  6. Graphics/Photo Rules:
    • Name the files as: YourProj#YourLastNameFig1.jpg (e.g., 12345LastNameFig1.jpg).
    • Formulas count as graphics.
    • Ensure your figures are readable even when resized for print.
    • Keep in mind that all printed figures will be in grayscale, so if your graph relies on color, it may not be clear in the printed report.

  • Use the subject line YourProj#YourLastName.pdf.
