JEOL has been doing periodic maintenance on the JEOL 9500 since Monday, Nov. 30. The emitter and the absorbed electron (AE) calibration marks were replaced. A problem has been found with the replaced AE marks on the stage and an engineer has to come back to fix it. Unfortunately it also means the emitter has to be shut down and moved out of the way to fix the AE marks, so the system will not be available for use until mid- to late next week.
